Your New York Knicks: Let the Mediocrity Begin

SU just saw this on the ESPN web site:

Arron Afflalo, Knicks agree on 2-year, $16M deal

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/13186096/arron-afflalo-new-york-knicks-agree-2-year-16-million-deal

Really?  This is the best they can do?  Clearly trying to follow the Yankees’ model of building a boring team.  As Mark Jackson would say, “Come on Phil.  You can do better than that!”

  1. You beat me to it. I saw this headline and immediately thought “Big splash – LOL”. In other news, Amare is still available. They should sign him and watch as Manhattan island reverts back to it’s original owners for $15 in colored beads.

The Knicks will end up overpaying for someone with a max deal for 4+ years who doesn’t deserve it just to get a semi big name in the door. Speaking of getting paid, I’m happy for Demarre’s deal with Toronto as I think he is a solid player. I’m also glad the Hawks didn’t match it as I think the Raptors overpaid for him since the deal is assuming that he replicates the career year he had last year.

      1. I believe Splitter was dealt to make room for Aldridge in San Antonio. He’s a nice player and since your head coach came from San Antonio, no doubt he knows Splitter very well. Good pick up I think.

  2. The Knicks are reportedly ramping up their pursuit of restricted free agent Patrick Beverley, Enes Kantor and SU Fave, David Lee

    1. Tom, interesting intel there. Beverley is a hard nosed defender but gets hurt a lot. Kantor has potential although burned his bridges in Utah. Has some offensive skills. I like David Lee – he can pass, score and plays no defense but hey, you can’t have everything.
