SU just saw this on the ESPN web site:
Arron Afflalo, Knicks agree on 2-year, $16M deal
Really? This is the best they can do? Clearly trying to follow the Yankees’ model of building a boring team. As Mark Jackson would say, “Come on Phil. You can do better than that!”
How great would mediocrity be? That would mean an increase of 20-30 wins. I’ll take it.
I heard Rafer Alston is available too.
You beat me to it. I saw this headline and immediately thought “Big splash – LOL”. In other news, Amare is still available. They should sign him and watch as Manhattan island reverts back to it’s original owners for $15 in colored beads.
The Knicks will end up overpaying for someone with a max deal for 4+ years who doesn’t deserve it just to get a semi big name in the door. Speaking of getting paid, I’m happy for Demarre’s deal with Toronto as I think he is a solid player. I’m also glad the Hawks didn’t match it as I think the Raptors overpaid for him since the deal is assuming that he replicates the career year he had last year.
I was happy to see Millsap back with the Hawks and like the Tiago Splitter acquisition too.
I believe Splitter was dealt to make room for Aldridge in San Antonio. He’s a nice player and since your head coach came from San Antonio, no doubt he knows Splitter very well. Good pick up I think.
Monroe signs with the Bucks- never mind!
Whew! The Knicks were saved from themselves once again. I believe Stephen Drew is still available though.
The Knicks are reportedly ramping up their pursuit of restricted free agent Patrick Beverley, Enes Kantor and SU Fave, David Lee
Tom, interesting intel there. Beverley is a hard nosed defender but gets hurt a lot. Kantor has potential although burned his bridges in Utah. Has some offensive skills. I like David Lee – he can pass, score and plays no defense but hey, you can’t have everything.
RoLo 4 yrs for $54 mm-seems like a lot of $
