Never doubt the clout of SU. Tauchman, Gardner and Mike Ford are all in the Yankees’ line up tonight. Clearly, Brian Cashman has been paying attention. Odor, Hicks and Frazier sit. End of an era. Fingers crossed that Ford and Tauchman do something positive.
The Clint Frazier Era?
End of the Hicks and Odor era. Send Frazier to the Alternate Site to regain his confidence. He can come back. Platoon Hicks as he can hit right-handed.
Tough days for the Yankees when the fans are celebrating two replacement players and an old scrappy gamer in the twilight of his career coming in to rescue the team. I do hope the Yanks beat the Braves in the next two games.
Hopefully they can start to turn things around because I want to see a great N.Y. rivalry but a rebuild seems inevitable.
Besides Cole and DJ who is a sure thing on this team that does not have significant question marks. Judge is a superstar but has been struck with the injury bug. Torres is still young but has not lived up to the hype. He is not a very good shortstop and needs to be moved back to second base. Stanton was a star but now is either hurt, striking out or hitting a HR. Sanchez was close to not having his contract renewed for a reason. Release the Kraken! Urshela is a solid role player who play great D and is a decent hitter. Voit is a good slugger who is often hurt and whose best position is DH. Hicks, Frazier and Tauchman all look like fourth or fifth outfielders. The pitching staff has some good young arms and a lot of question marks. Severing still has a lot to prove when he comes back but the other guys seem like back end starters. Chapman is getting old and the days of 105 MPH fastballs are long gone. Some decent arms in penn but is anyone a lights out guy?
The days of an All Star at every position are no more. If the Red Sox can do it so can the Yankees. It won’t take long but it is time to move on from the old and bring in some fresh blood.
In another universe the Yanks never got Stanton and have an infield of DJ at first, Gleyber (at 2B of course), Didi – a true yankee at shortstop (the lefty SU always points out that we desperately need), and Gio at third. With money to spend. I was hoping ARod would be the last slugger we pay millions of dollars to strike out and ride the bench in his 40s. Let’s hope this is finally a lesson learned! May as well sign Gary to a 300M 10 year deal at this point!!!
