SU has been made aware of this interesting tidbit regarding your New York Knicks and Phil Jackson’s interest in possibly moving Porzingis. Check it out in Yahoo Sports:
So, let me get this straight. You get lucky with drafting a guy like Porzingis but because he skips the end-of-year meeting with senior management, it’s time to move him? And you will do this because you believe you have identified another player like him who also has those skills in this year’s draft? SU says it’s time to get on the Jeremy Lin bandwagon in Brooklyn. I mean, who needs this? Porzingis is the only player on the roster of interest. What is going on there? SAD!
Congrats to those of you who guessed the answer to yesterday’s trivia question: Ben Gamel of the Seattle Mariners.
Unlike the previous 2 years worth of Carmelo Anthony-related trade rumors, I find this (sadly) to be plausible. The difference being that just about any team in the NBA would want Porzingis and no team wants Antnony. But maybe packaging them together would be the only way to move Anthony…
I’ll say it again. Phil Jackson does not want to be here. He is a part time worker who is fleecing Knicks management. He would like nothing better than to be fired, collect his guaranteed money and head back out west.
You can criticize Carmelo all you want. He has always been a limited player. Great scorer but that’s about it. But at least he busted his ass most of the time and wanted to win.
Phil has been a total fraud from the start. It has always been about the money during his time back in New York. Chicago and LA were decades ago. What have you done for us lately Phil? Good riddance and don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
And u wanted to know why I have lost interest in the NBA. If the Knicks are irrelevant then the NBA becomes that way as well. Good thing there are enough espionage tv on the air during the season.
I have to agree with Seth here on Porzingis though I hope they don’t trade their one player that is remotely interesting. Part of Melo’s no trade clause is probably so he can refuse a trade if he doesn’t feel like the Knicks are getting enough assets – not for the Knicks but for his own personal sense of value.
On another note, I do like what the Nets are doing. Their goal may only be to not give the Celtics another shot at #1 in 2018 but at least it shows some imagination. I like Brook, but I always feel like he is one play away from a serious foot injury. The 27th pick is not that big a deal and usually turns out to be a second team role player. At worst it is an even swap.
This is part of what I was thinking. Include Porzingis and maybe there are a bunch of other players and draft picks in the mix. It becomes a mega deal and the one-for-one value is obscured. Anthony could probably accept this. I still think it’s a bad idea. There is no way the team is very good in the near term anyway so unloading Anthony, while desirable, doesn’t seem worth giving up a player with a bright future.
