SU asks the question. Does this also put a freeze on Yankee player injuries? Or will there still be the steady drip, drip, drip of ailments? I mean Gary Sanchez had the flu last week (or maybe it was this week) and of course, Aaron Judge has that broken rib. SU says the players should stay at home and make sure there is no soap on the floor of the shower or bathtub to slip on.
This is a time of healing.
Btw, if anyone has found any alternative viewing sources for sports, please pass them along to the intergalactic subscriber base. Slim pickings right now.
This may become the breakthrough moment for esports?
Funny you mention that, Seth. They have also suspended esports games at least for the NBA. However, you would think that they could play these games remotely pretty easily.
In regards to some alternate sports viewing options…
Here are a few of my favorite ESPN “30 for 30” documentaries. Some of these can be accessed via on demand (I don’t think they cost anything), some of them just using DVR, or you can just search YouTube or some other streaming service that millennials know how to operate.
“Requiem for the Big East” – how the (original) Big East conference was formed and grew into a powerhouse in the early 80s. My favorite 30 for 30 of all time, a “can’t miss.”
“King’s Ransom” – the trade of Wayne Gretzky to the Kings in the summer of 1988. Incredible how much it impacted Canada as a country.
“Four Days in October” – Blasphemous to mention this in a blog chock full of Yankee fans, but for those not part of The Nation, an incredibly entertaining look behind the scenes with the Red Sox in 2004. You can figure out the rest of the plot (one hint – the ending doesn’t change).
And finally, my favorite documentary of all time, though I am admittedly biased because one of my idols is a main character and I have been a fan of the team for many years: “The UCLA Dynasty,” which was a movie on HBO.
And in times like these, a little humor never hurts, so here was a funny Tweet that I read yesterday:
“The Tampa Bay Rays have announced that no fans will be attending games this season. This has nothing to do with the Coronavirus.”
Mark, good stuff here. Thank you for contributing!
Two other suggestions from one of our long-term subscribers – both oldies but goodies with lots of episodes to watch: Breaking Bad; and Game of Thrones.
