Encarnacion in the Line-up for Indians

SU says that is a big deal.  He had 38 home runs and 107 rbis this year plus it’s an emotional lift for Cleveland.  I don’t believe he has good numbers off of Sabathia though lifetime.  Also, Ellsbury at DH looking for the first hit in the post-season from anyone at the DH position for the Yankees.

Trey Burke signs with the Knicks.  Always a good move to have former Michigan players on the roster.  Even if he ends up on the D-League team, that is also good as SU can watch him at the Westchester County Center.

John Farrell out at Boston and Dusty Baker looking very disorganized with the Nationals as they flip flop starters and his story is not consistent.  If nothing else, Joe Girardi looks better than these guys.

  1. Chiming in from Boston – John Farrell should have been let go after the 2015 season but the Sox didn’t want to fire the guy who was recovering from cancer. Torey Lovullo did a great job as interim manager that year. Instead, the Sox wasted two more years with Farrell and lost Lovullo to the Diamondbacks.

  2. Encarnacion is a big plus for Cleveland as their lineup just didn’t look as good without him. Still, it only makes sense if he’s healthy. That was the ugliest injury replay of the week until Bekham’s. Still, he’s had 5 days to heal up so maybe he’s fine. Emotionally, it’s a huge boost as they can pretend that they are now a different team from the one that lost the last 2 games.

I don’t like playoff teams firing their managers but I guess I understand it. With the Red Sox, the first few months were really lackluster. Still, Farrell got them to turn their season around and anything can (and does) happen in the playoffs.

  3. OK so Encarnacion plays and our DH gets a hit or two. Feels like a wash to me. It’s all about how both pitchers… especially CC performs in the first 2 innings. Don’t miss these critical innings as it sets the table for the rest of the game. The Yankee, more than the Indians need to get out in front first… even 1-0. CC will be on a tight leash as ALL HANDS ON DECK except Betances who is taking his bucket and spilling out the floor around him.
