Jeremy Lin Lands in Brooklyn

SU is all set for the coming season.  Jeremy Lin gets 3 years at $36 million from the Brooklyn Nets.  Actually compared to other numbers being reported today, pretty reasonable.  Assuming he is a starter, that’s a bargain.  Great move for Lin as he will be immensely popular in NY.  Hopefully, he can also irritate the Knicks in the process.

Here is a staggering contract number for you coming out of Toronto: unconfirmed but being reported that DeMar DeRozan is being offered 5 years, $145 million by the Raptors.  SU’s crack research team has done the math and that comes out to $29 million a year.  What does that make Durant or LeBron worth then?

  1. I can confirm the math on the Lin deal.
While we can hope for the best, there’s no reason to be sure that he Knicks have become a playoff team (or even significantly improved from last season). Assuming the Knicks and Nets are both middling teams at best, you can be sure that Lin will grab a good chunk of the spotlight. NY fell in love with him once and could do it again. And this will drive Carmelo Anthony nuts. Carmelo was frustrated by the attention Lin got when he was on the Knicks. Let’s see what happens when he’s across town.

  2. The Knicks have a great team for the 2011 – 2012 season. Too bad it is 2016. They should have enough pieces to make the playoffs but injuries will catch up with them by the end of the year.

Now that the Warriors have signed KD, everyone else is playing for 2nd place for the next 3 years.
