SU is unimpressed and uninspired by the Derrick Rose trade. The guy is an injury waiting to happen. It’s like getting Penny Hardaway past his prime or Ronoldo Blackman or any of the other multitudes of over-the-hill players who have found their way to MSG. He was great when healthy but his knees are pretty much shot now. The good news is that they didn’t give up anything to acquire him so from the standpoint of taking a flyer, sure, worth the risk. The rumors have already started about Durant now seriously considering the Knicks or what about Dwight Howard?? Dwight Howard is only about 7 years removed from being good.
Phil Jackson was able to clear cap space so that’s a positive. But how is Rose going to play an up tempo pace with bad knees? SU is perplexed. Still waiting to see where Jeremy Lin lands in free agency to determine my new team to watch on the NBA Season Pass in 2016-17.
I know there are plenty of Knick fans out there. Care to weigh in? Thumbs up or down?
Didn’t Jackson bring in those players he just traded Rose for? What is Jackson’s game plan after this. What’s the freakin game plan???
Oddly, enough yesterday’s win against the lowly Rockies was big. The Yanks are on the fence whether to buy, sell or hold here. These next 7 home games are critical and should tell us what to expect.
Besides giving McCann somewhat of a pass based on his bating average it appears some of the players are coming around… or at least doing better. The only very expensive piece which has been a big disappointment is A-rod. Have him bat 8th. He is no cleanup or #3 batter anymore.
Big questions is are they playing him until he reaches 700 home runs. he’s got 5 to go. Besides a comment from the TV announcers here in NY, I wonder if anyone else out there even cares about him reaching this tainted milestone.
Key is that Phil cleared a lot of cap space and will be able to spend big in 2017 when there will be a lot of good free agents on the market, so if Rose doesn’t work out it’s just suffering through one more bad season. if he gets Howard, how about Rajan Rondo as well so the Knicks can have the all-dysfunction team?
The only player they gave up was Lopez who wasn’t exactly an untouchable. It doesn’t necessarily make them better but it also doesn’t really make them worse. I would have preferred they got Jeff Teague but they really didn’t have a lot to offer.
That would be awesome if they got Durant but I just don’t know how they can sell him on being a legit playoff team with championship aspirations. Their only real way to attract a major upgrade is to offer a max contract to someone who doesn’t really deserve one and wasn’t going to get one from any other team. Durant can pretty much name his destination and get a max deal.
