First of all, the CBS Selection Show is awful. 2 hours for this? A joke. Plus, apparently the full bracket has been leaked and is already on Twitter. Do we need to watch Charles Barkley who doesn’t even follow much of college basketball?
SU will be sure to make its fearless predictions in the next couple of days but how Michigan State is not a #1 seed is beyond me. North Carolina and Kansas always go out early, and Virginia didn’t even win its conference tournament or league. The experts on CBS only see a few teams being capable of winning it all but SU believes that is wrong.
Oregon State is in at 19-12? I admit I don’t watch much of the PAC 12 but that is a low win total to get in.
More to come in the next day or so. Let the games begin!
Mich St. is the #1 team in the country. Extremely confused how they didn’t get a 1 seed after being #2 in all the polls and then won the Big Ten Conference Tournament. Also – Kentucky beat Texas A&M in the SEC Tourney – and were lower ranked. How did that happen? Seems like there was a lot of mistakes this year. Also, Cuse and Pitt are not good. Seems like an inordinate amount of messups for the committee this year whose soul purpose is to watch basketball.
I can’t get too crazy about the seeds nor who should have gotten in or not. So we had Charles Barkley who might know about 5 players in the entire country and the female commentator who spends most of her time focusing on women’s college basketball. Who cares. The games in the tournaments leading up to THEE tournament were really good. I’m sure they will continue right through early April. It will be nice watching the purity of sports for a few weeks now versus what we get during the balance of the year. Let the games begin.
PS If you want to complain try watching Quantico or The Blind Spot or probably any show during prime time with NOW 6 commercials inside of 1 hour. Last night I counted 20 minutes worth of commercials. “Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?”
CBS really blew it with their 2-hour show. With the internet, people want their information instantaneously. How did they not understand that? While I enjoy the NCAAs, I am not naive to think that college basketball like college football is not big business. Purity it’s not. But it is a lot of fun and there should be plenty of upsets this year as there are no dominant teams.
Elliot, I would have to agree with you. For Kentucky vs. Texas A&M, they had played earlier in the year and A&M won that game. So, if you take the full body of work into consideration, I don’t have an issue with that. The conference tournaments don’t count that much I don’t believe in these decisions. Michigan State was playing great down the stretch – hard to see how Virginia gets in over them as they didn’t win the conference or their tournament plus I think the Big Ten is better than the ACC as a conference. Syracuse getting in is a mystery to many. Michigan was a bubble team and being in a play in game is fair I think. I don’t think it matters that much between a 1 or 2 seed. Jay Bilas has Michigan beating Notre Dame – kind of a bold prediction there.
